Moorea Tama`a Street Food Tour

Experience everyday local favorites on the island of Moorea.

Step into the slippers (flip-flops) of a local and join us as we snack our way around Moorea. Tama’a means to eat in Tahitian and we will be doing just that as you and your taste buds discover Moorea.

During your food tour you will taste and visit authentic local finds that will offer unique flavors where locals like to eat. The food in Tahiti consists of three cultures, Tahitian, Chinese, and French. On the Tama’a tour we will seek out hidden food gems from all three of these backgrounds.

We will be tasting a diversity of food and drinks such as local seasonal fruits, casse-croute, fish dishes, pai, mape, and other delicious local snacks that stem from the three cultures that make up French Polynesia today.

Guests will experience a minimum of 10-12 tastings, depending on season and/or availability.

During your food tour you will taste and visit authentic local finds that will offer unique flavors where locals like to eat. Duration: 3-4 hours (Starts at 9:00am) - available Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays

Come and experience the modern local street food culture with Orama, as she will immerse your foodie taste buds around the Papeete municipal market and city surroundings. We will visit local vendors and taste authentic local food, such as seasonal fruits, snacks, fish dishes, juices to name a few of the delicious tastings from the three main culinary cultures: Tahitian, Chinese and French. You will experience a minimum of 10-12 tastings, depending on the season and/or availability.

This tour also offers the opportunity to explore a few historical, cultural, and street art sites to help give a better understanding of the history of Papeete.

We offer a unique guided tour called “Tama’a street food tour”.  This tour will take you off the beaten path in which you will experience local cuisine from local vendors, cafes, stands, and businesses. Our culinary journey not only offers you a tour of our beautiful islands but also a taste of the diverse cultural melting pot of Tahitian cuisine.

Heimata Hall

Heimata Hall - Founder - Born and raised on the island of Mo'orea, Heimata spent his first years working for his families pearl business on Moorea.  During this time, Heimata had a burning passion to become a chef.  After 15 years in the family business he decided to pursue his dreams and  started his culinary journey by studying at the Pacific Culinary Institute in Honolulu, Hawaii. There he apprenticed under Chef Ed Kenney and chef Dave Caldiero, internationally recognized and award-winning Chefs. Chef Ed inspired Heimata to mix traditional local cuisine with a modern twist.

He loves to share his pleasure of cooking food with family, friends, and now on the Food Tours.

Orama

Orama - Born and raised on the island of Tahiti, Orama grew up in a family where food has always had a central part . At the age of 21 she decided to take a sabbatical from her international business studies to pursue her life long passion for pastries. She enrolled herself in pastry classes in France, where she received a CAP-Patisserie certificate. Foodie since day 1, she can still taste the gelato and the Neapolitan pizza of Italy, the tapas, croquetas and pan con tomate from Spain, Sweden’s kanelbullar, trdlník of Czech Republic, Strasbourg’s spatzles, Indonesia’s nasi goreng & tempeh… She is attached to finding & tasting the most authentic food of the places she visits. 

Orama hopes to make you discover and experience the tastes & flavours of her own Polynesian culture and Tahitian lifestyle.
